Swan Valley and Surrounds

The historic Swan Valley is an easy 25 minute drive from Perth’s city centre and 10 minutes from Perth’s domestic airport. It offers a seductive combination of wine, food, art, scenery and nature.

The oldest wine region in Australia, the valley was originally settled by southern and eastern Europeans who brought with them a fearsome work ethic as well as a love for fortified wines and traditional winemaking techniques to the new colony. The region is still renowned for its superb fortifieds as well as warm-climate shiraz, petit verdot, chenin blanc, and verdelho.

Visit one of the 40 cellar doors in the region and you’ll likely be greeted by the owners themselves, eager to share stories about the region’s 180 years of viticulture.

In addition to winery cellar doors, the Swan Valley offers boutique breweries, distilleries, galleries, Australian wildlife, and a range of food and cultural experiences.
