Australia’s only Cabernet Sauvignon conference, theAustralian Cabernet Symposium (ACS), is coming for the first time to both Margaret River and Coonawarra onThursday 1 February 2024. Traditionally hosted by Coonawarra Grape and WineIncorporated (CGWI) in Coonawarra, in 2024 the symposium is being presented in association with Wines of Western Australia (WoWA) and sees the joiningof forces of Australia’s premier Cabernet Sauvignon producing regions, Coonawarra and Margaret River.

A stellar line-up of local and international Cabernet Sauvignon experts will explore the latestglobal developments in Cabernet from Parker Coonawarra Estate and Margaret River HEART,and be simulcast to live audiences at both venues.

Guest presenters include Chilean born, French based Fine Wines and Terroir Consultant Rodrigo Laytte – presenting from Margaret River –
who will share his views on how the Napa Valley, Chile, Mexico and Bordeaux, amongst other regions, are adapting to climate changefrom a Cabernet perspective. He will be joined by Phil Brodie from Te Mata Estate in Hawke’sBay – presenting from Coonawarra – who will explore his team’s search for the Holy Grail ofCabernet in Coleraine.

Topics range from carbon neutral wineries of the future, the latest Cabernet statistics andtrends, state of the art vineyard irrigation systems, rootstocks and methoxypyrazines,predicting berry cell death and shrivel; and the past, present and future of CabernetSauvignon. Masterclasses will feature Margaret River Clonal Trial wines from 2023, as well as different expressions of Cabernet.

With Cabernet being the world’s most planted variety, it’s a must attend event for the Australian wine community.
