The Geographe Wine Industry Association is elated with the results of this year’s WA Alternative Variety Wine Show with an impressive 211 entries from across WA. Diversity of grape varieties is the highlight of this Wine Show attracting 44 different varietals this year, making the task of judging that much harder for Chief Judge Corrina Wright (Oliver’s Taranga Vineyards in McLaren Vale), Foni Pollitt (sommelier Mayfair Lane) and Nic Bowen (Howard Park Wines).
The Geographe GI awards were spread evenly across eight different wineries, confirming the region’s reputation for quality and uniformity in their table wines.
The Wine Show facilitates comparison of wines by leading industry professionals, and allows producers to focus on continuous improvements in wine quality and increase industry knowledge.
